Fundraising Activities for our 2007-2008 Season

ENTERTAINMENT COUPON BOOKS [August / September]
This has been an extremely successful campaign for us in the past. Calgarians are familiar with 'Entertainment Coupon Books' and eagerly purchase them once available. It's time to let everyone know you will have the books for sale.

STUDENT UNION TICKET PACTS - SUTP [August / September]
Most people in Calgary are very familiar with these coupon books – they are very reasonably priced and have lots of popular coupons inside. Some prefer to purchase these instead of Entertainment Books while others choose to buy both. Our profit last year was over $1000.

QSP MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION
If you already subscribe to a magazine or two, this one is simple. By ordering new subscriptions or renewing your favourites through Cantaré, it costs you NO MORE, yet the profit stays in our choir community. There are over 700 magazines to choose from and magazines make great gifts! You can renew a magazine from the selection on-line anytime during the current 2007-2008 season; Cantaré Children's Choir benefits from all subscriptions ordered until the end of the season.

CHRISTMAS WREATHS [November / December]
This was a successful campaign for us last year. The wreaths were beautiful and lasted well into January! If you own a small business, this would be perfect for corporate gift giving. Perhaps you could approach whoever is responsible at your company for sending the 'corporate gesture' and suggest that this be considered. These make the perfect gift for teaches, coaches, etc.

COCO BROOKS PIZZA [January & April]
Do you need a quick meal to fit into your hectic schedule? Coco Brooks has 8” hearty single serve pizzas that can be purchased through the choir. Choose from 17 frozen pizzas which are made fresh and par-baked right here in Calgary.

COOKIE DOUGH [February]
Everyone loves this one - frozen cookie dough stocked up in your freezer to keep the family happy!

EASTER LILIES - HYDRANGEAS & BEDDING OUT PLANTS
[March / April / May]
These two projects are one that you DON'T want to miss. Our grower in Standard provides INCREDIBLE quality and very competitive prices for something that everyone usually purchases in the Spring. Those who didn't order were extremely disappointed when they saw the exceptional quality. Lilies and Hydrangeas are delivered just before Easter. We aim for delivery of the Bedding Out plants in late May. You can either add to Golden Acres' profit margin or you can help the choir!

STEAK NIGHT
Looking for a fun night out – just adults – and a chance to support Cantaré? A couple of times per year, we host a Steak Night Fundraiser at Rip’s Pub in Millrise. Dinner, drinks, door prizes and a silent auction all wrapped into one. Choir families and local businesses donate items; everyone gets the chance to go home with something special!

CASINO
Cantaré Children's Choir Society held its last casino in March 2007. This was an extremely successful venture, earning approximately $100,000 for our organization. Although the money is restricted in its use, many of our expenditures do qualify. Our next casino fundraiser is scheduled for August 2 and 3, 2008. If you would like to volunteer for either of these days, please contact the office.

PENNY POT COLLECTION
The 'Penny Pot' is coming back! Lots of people think those little copper coins aren't worth much but we know better…those little pennies add up! So the penny pot will happily accept your contribution of as many pennies as you can find around your house, or from your friends and relatives - dads and grandpas are an excellent source! This is an ongoing initiative throughout the year.

GALA
We have four times hosted a Gala evening which have proven to be enormously successful and one of our most major fundraising initiatives. We earned $29,800 in 03/04, $11,000 in 99/00, and $22,000 in 98/99. These proceeds were used to purchase several major capital expenditures such as our concert risers and music library storage system. The Board of Directors will determine whether we will hold a similar fundraiser for our 2008 - 2009 season.

BOTTLE DRIVE
Each year we set out to do our part for the environment and raise some money at the same time during this super-fun one-day fundraiser. Choristers and parent drivers canvas designated neighborhoods asking for bottle donations; other parent volunteers hang out at the bottle depot working on their counting and sorting skills! It's amazing how much you can raise in such a short time frame.
