Book a Uniform Fitting

Fittings can be booked every 15 minutes. Each appointment will take approximately 45 minutes.
It is such an exciting time of year when a child gets their choir uniform for the year! If you can imagine trying to fit over 100 children into several different uniform pieces, you can understand why we set aside a special time for the task! It is an enormous undertaking!
LOCATION
Our home facility: 10620 Elbow Drive SW [Lutheran Church of the Cross].
ENTRANCE: Use the North parking lot and entrance to the church. Proceed to the sign in table.
Uniform fittings take place in the FELLOWSHIP HALL. Each fitting takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Parents do not come into the uniform fitting area; we simply don’t have room for you.
**DO NOT DROP AND GO- remain at in the building so that you are available when your child is finished. Bring a book and lawn chair and enjoy the sunshine! Or mix and mingle and get to know some of the other parents.
** If your choristers is being fit for a male uniform, we ask that ONE parent come into the uniform fitting to assist them. These uniforms have lots of parts and we need a parent to help them change quickly and stay organized.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are needed to help with uniform fittings. We need you!! You'll have lots of fun and at every concert you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you contributed to the professional look our choristers exhibit on stage. Contact Katie if you are able to help [office@cantarechildrenschoir.org].
WHAT TO BRING
Wear a two-piece outfit: Choristers should arrive in a top and bottoms rather than a dress or other one-piece outfit. They will need to try on their casual uniform (t-shirt) and should have something on the bottom when they do so. If your chorister is the shy type, wear your swimsuit underneath your clothes, as we have separated by not private change rooms.
BOYS bring your white dress shirt from last year so that we can determine if it is still suitable or if you need a new one. Put a piece of masking tape on the front with your first/last name.
Black Performance Shoes: Be sure to bring your black performance shoes with your name on your shoes. A piece of masking tape with your name on the bottom works well. Check your shoes before you come. Are they clean/polished? Do they still fit.
**Cantiga Apprentice and Cantare Choristers will need character shoes. Details regarding character shoes are attached here.
Shoe Swap: if you have black performance shoes from last year that you have outgrown and would like to donate to the shoe swap table, please bring them to the office when you come for your fitting. Put a piece of tape on the bottom of EACH shoe with your first and last name AND shoe size. If you wish to donate your shoes, labeling them is all that you need to do.
If you would like to try to resell your shoes, attach ANOTHER piece of masking tape on the bottom of EACH shoe, stating your asking price. Envelopes will be available to deposit cash or cheque for any shoes purchased. Understand that the resell program is an “on your honours system” and we can’t be responsible for any shoes left on the Shoe Swap table.
Activity Books: Choristers are asked to complete their activities book distributed at Get in the Groove and hand it in when they come for uniform fittings.
Donate to the Uniform Fund
Our inventory of boys formal uniform pants is in need of replacement. Many of our current pants are showing significant wear and tear. Some have lost their shape or elasticity in the waist band, and inconsistencies in sizing have made the fitting process increasingly difficult.
While we would love to replace these items on our own, the cost of doing so exceeds our current budget. That’s why we’re asking families to contribute to our Uniform Fund, which will allow us to purchase a new inventory of pants for our choristers. Unfortunately, we can only purchase these pants once we have received the donations to do so.
In the early years, each chorister purchased their own uniform pants. Eventually, the choir transitioned to maintaining a shared inventory, funded by our families who committed to donate to the uniform fund each year. More pants were purchased over the years as there was a need, and we were able to do so from the uniform fund that those early families established. This system has served us well, and the pants have held up remarkably—some of the pants in our inventory are 25 years old. However, it's clear that many of them have reached the end of their usable life. It will take several years to replace our current inventory.
Our goal is to raise $1000 to cover the purchase of 20 pairs of pants for the boys in Cantilena and Cantiga this year. We have researched some pant options that will match the pants in our current inventory. Each pair is about $50.
Your contribution will help ensure that every chorister is fitted with uniform pants that are comfortable, well-made, and consistent. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain the high standards of our choir.
