Our annual Autumn Retreats provide the opportunity for intense work and intense fun at Camp Chestermere. Nestled amidst the picturesque beauty of nature, these retreats provide a unique opportunity for our young choristers to develop their musical skills while creating unforgettable memories. During our retreats, singers immerse themselves in a supportive and inspiring environment through team-building activities, specialized workshops, and engaging rehearsals, our retreats foster a sense of camaraderie and growth among the choristers. The serene backdrop of Camp Chestermere allows for deep exploration and reflection, helping our young singers to connect with their inner selves and find inspiration for their artistic journey. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, our autumn and winter retreats at Camp Chestermere offer the perfect setting for choristers to recharge, hone their talents, and create lifelong friendships.
Cantaré and Cantiga each enjoy a weekend away where our time is spent singing, studying, playing, and having fun together. Cantilena's retreat is a one-day escape.
Autumn Retreat is an essential part of the start of our season. Choristers build on the incredible work done during The Get In The Groove Workshop Week and start their fall season off with some time away singing together.
Winter Retreat happens in January and gives us another important time together to begin the second half of our season on the right foot!
Our History: Retreats at Kamp Kiwanis
For almost 25 years, Cantare Children’s Choir’s Autumn and Winter Retreats were graciously hosted by Kamp Kiwanis near Bragg Creek.
Some of the choir’s happiest memories in our 25-year history were formed at the breakfast table over Chef' Matthew’s legendary hash browns, playfully presenting skits out on the porch, campfires, slipper shows, and digging deep into incredible music shoulder to shoulder in the rehearsal room.
In 2022, the camp site was demolished to make way for flood mitigation. As an organization, we want to wish Kamp Kiwanis well as they move to their new site, and to say thank you to all of the staff and volunteers at Kamp Kiwanis for so many years of amazing memories!
