For centuries, many of the most storied choral and instrumental works were written, performed, and championed in one Italian city state: VENICE.

Joined by a professional string ensemble, Cantare and Cantando will turn the clock back to the musical world of the 1600s and 1700s and explore the stories of Venice’s great musicians. We will learn about the deep and curious partnership between the Baroque master Antonio Vivaldi and the all-female virtuoso cast of orphaned and illegitimate girls being raised at the Ospedali della Pietá, the orphanage and school for Venice’s lost girls.
