Day ONE: We’re Off!
We are off on another grand Cantiga Tour!
Over the next four days, our Cantiga Choristers will be journeying across Southwest Alberta to share their music with communities across the province, taking in the vast open beauty of the rolling foothills and and seeing historical sites across our incredible province! There’s nothing quite like a Cantiga Tour, let’s get to it!
Friday School Tour - Our Journey Begins!
Our tour journey begins as it often does: A “Down the highway” School Tour visiting elementary schools in High River and Nanton! We LOVE sharing our music with these communities and encouraging elementary students to sing along and consider joining choirs in their own towns - we ALWAYS want more children singing!
School Tours are such an important part of our program! They allow our Cantiga choristers to work through a program multiple times in a single day, working towards developing consistency and keeping their performances active across the entire day of singing. Our Tour Choristers rose to the challenge and sang some great concerts for
We want to thank Spitzee Elementary School, Ecole Joe Clark School, and AB Daley School for receiving us and being such wonderful and welcoming audiences!
With eager faces glued to the windows of the bus, our tour choristers are already getting to connect with the incredible beauty of the rolling hills of Southwest Alberta. It’s so wonderful to spend time together discovering more about our home province
Fort Macleod: The Fort Museum

We had our first KEY VISIT of the trip comes on Day 1 with a visit to The Fort Museum of the North West Mounted Police.
The Museum of the NWMP and First Nation’s Interpretive Centre is dedicated to preserving the history of the Northwest Mounted Police and the First Nations of Southern Alberta. The museum is a re-creation of the original fort built in 1874 and is the birthplace of the famous RCMP Musical Ride!
Our choristers got to take part in their interactive program THE MARCH OF THE REDCOATS which gives an introduction to the early days of the force, their role in the abolition of the whiskey trade, and first contacts with the Blackfoot Peoples. Our singers were so attentive throughout their guided tour and had lots of good questions to ask the guides (this is why a pencil and a notebook is a BeltBag Essential)
Thank you SO MUCH to the staff at The Fort for sharing their knowledge and expertise with our choristers, an amazing experience to start our journey!
After an evening swim in our hotel pool, we had the classic Evening Tour Debrief with Catherine, a quick snack, and off to bed (tomorrow is a BIG DAY)
Swim Night in Pincher Creek!
After a big full day, we got to return to our hotel for a quick dip in the hotel pool! Then it was time for a quick snack, our usual Evening Tour Debrief with Catherine where we share highlights of the day and goals for tomorrow, and then off to bed! We have a HUGE day tomorrow!
Chaperones Around the Clock!
After a long day, our chaperones are hard at work in the hotel laundry room, getting our choristers’ T-shirts and travel pants cleaned and hung to dry overnight before another day of use!
“The Fancy Cars”
We were treated to a spectacular sight at our hotel parking lot! Our Heritage Inn neighbours included a cohort of vintage car collectors!
